Mike grew up in Ocala, FL and was a member of Good Shepherd, as well as a part of the worship team, long before he stepped into the position of Worship Director. He became aware of his need for Christ in High School and joined GSPC when he was 19. He is thankful for his time serving with and learning from Aaron Angstrom and Steve Germany who held his position previously, and would tell you that he never dreamed that he would be able to do what he gets to do now back then.
His first steps into music were learning children’s songs on his grandmother’s organ, which led to saxophone in middle school band, and finally, with some encouragement from his Mom, to guitar in high school. He started a heavy rock band in high school that ended up being signed to a label and touring the country and the world for a few years. While thankful for his opportunities and experiences, he is at home here in Ocala and delights in the challenges and joys of leading worship, planning liturgies, supporting small groups, and having a family. Mike and his wife have two wonderful daughters. He is honored to serve as a Ruling Elder at Good Shepherd and he enjoys music, thoughtful conversations, reading, cooking, creating, and crafting in many forms.
