– – – -Liturgy for Sunday, May 31st, 2015- – – –

“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me…”
John 17:20-23

Prelude: Come As You Are (Crowder)

Gathering Song: Come Praise And Glorify (Sovereign Grace Music)

Call to Worship – We believe God is who calls and enables us to worship Himself rightly, in Spirit and truth, so we go to His word in seek of that…

Leader: Come, Lord God, to receive our worship. Come, Lord Jesus, to receive our praise. Come, Holy Spirit, to receive our thanks. Come, eternal three-in-one God, come where we are gathered to celebrate your works, in unity as your body, the church.

All: We share one faith and are of one soul and one mind, which belong solely and wholly to you.

Leader: We are baptized with one baptism, eat of one bread and drink of one cup.

All: We confess one name above all other names; we are obedient to one Lord, who frees us from the tyranny of our own sin.

Leader: We share one hope, one comfort, one goal.

All: We are one people, united-despite any noticeable differences – by our faith in you, Lord Jesus.

Leader: We are one people, united by your love and mercy to stand against any power that would try to tear us apart.

All: We are one people, united in blessing and in suffering, united in joy and in sorrow, united in strength and in weakness. Receive our praise and be glorified as we worship, we ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Prayer of Invocation – We pray each week asking God to direct our hearts, “prone to wander” as they are, to Himself as we sing, speak, and listen in our worship gathering…

Adoration:

Our Great God  (Ortega)

Call To Confession –

Leader: Lord, we look with hope for the day when there is no more grief, no more sorrow, no more sin, no more death. When you return, there will be no sickness, no more weakness, no more anxiety,  no more failing strength, and we will be made complete.

All: We will see you, and our souls will overflow with joy, worship, and blessings.

Leader: Here, we see things dimly; our hopes are obscured by the suffering that surrounds us and by the sinful longings of our hearts.

All: We prefer comfort to holiness and our hopes are set on temporary material things, rather than eternal promises.

Leader: Let us know the deep roots of our longings.
Give us a hunger for heaven. Open our eyes to truth.

All: Show us how unsatisfying this world is, and draw our affections to you, so that we can find satisfaction in the Gospel and cling to
Christ alone.

(time of silent confession)

Lord, I Need You (Maher)

Assurance In Christ: Romans 5:8-11
Leader: [Hear the good news of the gospel] “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

All: Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”

Song of Response: Jesus Paid It All (Stanfill)
