Definition – Anger is the powerhouse of the emotions for protecting or acquiring something deeply desired or loved.

Complexity – What is the thing that is wanted deeply loved?

Anger is always a secondary response.  It if the fruit of losing something or finding an idol threatened.  If you struggle with anger, it may be that anger is not your problem at all.  It may be that you have a loving problem.  It may be that from your family, three generations back, you have exalted this one thing as a necessary requirement for your happiness… and that thing is not something that Christ has promised you.

Where does YOUR anger come really come from?  There is something you want protected…something you desire to have that is out of reach.

The genuine source of most anger is an unwillingness ultimately to confess a dissatisfaction with God.  That is a kinder way of saying, “You hate him because He’s not giving you what you want.”
