“Worship, as we see from the Psalms, is not limited to celebration, nor is it spoiled by tears.”  -Hughes Old

Be still, and know that I am God…
Psalm 46:10

Prelude: The Victory (All Sons & Daughters)

Gathering Song: Come Thou Fount (Wyeth/Robinson)

Call to Worship – We believe God is who calls and enables us to worship Himself rightly, in Spirit and truth, so we go to His word in seek of that…

adapted from Psalm 28
Leader: To you, O LORD, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.

All: Hear the voice of our pleas for mercy, when we cry to you for help, when we lift up our hands toward your most holy sanctuary.

Leader: Do not drag me off with the wicked, with the workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts… They do not regard the works of the LORD or the work of his hands, he will tear them down and build them up no more.

All: Let us truly know and speak peace. Grant us a deep honesty, that trusts in your work, not our own. Let us regard your works with joy, with worship, and with thankfulness. Build us up and together by your Spirit, work in us, cause us to cry out to you.

Leader: Blessed be the LORD! For he hears the voice of my pleas for mercy.

All: The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. The LORD is the strength of his people; he is the saving refuge of his anointed. Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be our shepherd and carry us forever.

Prayer of Invocation – We pray each week asking God to direct our hearts, “prone to wander” as they are, to Himself as we sing, speak, and listen in our worship gathering…

Adoration:

Everlasting God  (Tomlin)

From The Depths Of Woe (Psalm 130)  (Indelible Grace)

Call To Confession – “Waiting on God”

(time of silent confession)

Assurance In Christ: 1 John 4:10, 13-19
Leader: In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

All: In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Leader: By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

All: So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Leader: By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.

All: There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.
