“Hosanna…that Hebrew phrase is found one solitary place in the whole Old Testament,Psalm 118:25, where it means, ‘Save, please!’ hoshiya na! …over the centuries the phrase hoshiya na stopped being a cry for help in the ordinary language of the Jews. Instead it became a shout of hope and exultation. It used to mean, ‘Save, please!’ But gradually, it came to mean, ‘Salvation! Salvation! Salvation has come!’ …It is the bubbling over of a heart that sees hope and joy and salvation on the way and can’t keep it in. So ‘Hosanna!’ means, ‘Hooray for salvation! It’s coming! It’s here! Salvation! Salvation!’”
-John Piper

“I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
Luke 19:40

Prelude:  Did Christ Over Sinners Weep (Indelible Grace)

Gathering Song: Hail To The Lord’s Anointed  (Indelible Grace)

Call to Worship – We believe God is who calls and enables us to worship Himself rightly, in Spirit and truth, so we go to His word in seek of that…

(Mary’s song of praise & Zechariah’s Prophecy –
Luke 1:46,49-50,68,74)

Leader: My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.

All: for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.

Leader: Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people and has raised up a horn of salvation for us

All: That we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

Prayer of Invocation – We pray each week asking God to direct our hearts, “prone to wander” as they are, to Himself as we sing, speak, and listen in our worship gathering…

Adoration:

Hosanna  (Hillsong)

Call to  Confession:

Matthew 16:15-16, & 22-23
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

Matthew 21:9, & Mark 15:13-14
9 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
13 And they cried out again, “Crucify him.” 14 And Pilate said to them,
“Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify him.”

(time of silent confession)

Psalm 130 (From The Depths Of Woe)  (Chris Miner/Martin Luther)

Assurance In Christ

Romans 5:1-5
Leader: Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

All: Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Leader: Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,

All: and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
